Department of Botany
Founded in 1956, Department of Botany was one of the first divisions of the Faculty of Agronomy. Our mission is to provide students with knowledge in plant structures, functions, identification, and diversity, which are fundamental for further specialized studies in plant science, plant protection, plant breeding, agronomy, horticulture, biotechnology, and environment.
We currently offer the following courses for undergraduate students at VNUA:
Introductory Biology 3 (Plant Biology)
Plant morphology and anatomy
We carry out research in a wide range of topics in plant biology. Specific interests include plant growth and development in response to changing environments and nutrient supplies, adaptive morphology and anatomy of plants, plant water use, control of flowering time in plants, organic farming and sustainable development, and plant diversity. We offer a number of services, including plant collection, identification, and sample preparation.
