On April 23rd, 2019, the vegetable research group of the Faculty of Agronomy (FoA) organized the international conference “Improving vegetable crops yield and quality: Challenges and potential solutions” at the Faculty of Agronomy, Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA).

Attending the conference were Prof. Dr. Pham Van Cuong, VNUA’s Vice President, Dr. Nguyen Duc Huy,  Vice Dean of Faculty of Agronomy, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hang,  Leader of the vegetable research group, Prof. Johns Evans, Australian National University, Mr. Takashi Shimizu, General director of World Group Incorporation, Dr. Katsuya Ohno, D&R Manager of the Center for Bio-products development of IBIDEN Incorporation, Japan, Dr. Nguyen Thu Ha, Soils and Fertilizers Research Institute, members of the vegetable research group, and lecturers and students of the Faculty of Agronomy.

An overview of the conference 

This conference focused on the potential research and technologies for improving plant productivity and quality, especially applicable for vegetable production. At the conference, scientists and enterprises’ representatives presented 9 reports which brought about useful information and knowledge, as well as proposed great opportunities for further discussion.

At the end of the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hang summarized useful information and applicable solutions for sustainable vegetable production in Vietnam that were shared and discussed in this conference. These results are valuable for the future research strategies of the vegetable research group. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hang shared her gratitude for the supports of the VNUA’s leaders, the significant contributions of all participants to the success of this conference, especially the ones who came from external organizations including the Soils and Fertilizers research institute, Australian National University, World Group and IBIDEN Incorporation.
