On December 21st, 2018, at Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA), Fuji Flavor  Co., Ltd., came to visit and discuss the collaboration with VNUA. Attending the ceremony, from Vietnam National University of Agriculture, there were VNUA’s President, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan; Director of International Cooperation Office, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy; Vice Dean of Faculty of Agronomy, Dr. Nguyen Duc Huy; Head Department of Entomology,  Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Thi Thu Giang and other key staff at VNUA. From Fuji Flavor Co. Ltd., there were Dr. Rikiya Sasaki, Senior Manager of R&D Department, Ecomone Headquarters, and MSc. Riki Nakagawa, Research and Development team, Ecomone Headquarters.


 

To provide participants with more information about VNUA, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, Director of International Cooperation Office highlighted achievements of the university. VNUA has 1,340 staff in total (in which there are 687 lecturers and researchers). According to the estimate for 2018-2019 school year, there were 27.464 students in total. VNUA offers a wide range of majors such as economics, social sciences, information technology, animal science, veterinary medicine, aquaculture, and agronomy, etc. with training and research orientation in agricultural sciences as well as economics and rural development. 


 

Dr. Rikiya Sasaki, Senior Manager of R&D Department, Ecomone Headquarters, Fuji Flavor Co. Ltd., introduced brief information and products of Fuji Flavor. Fuji Flavor is company produces and provides pheromone traps to monitoring stored-products insect pests and agricultural insect pests. Today, pheromone traps are sold in more than a hundred countries. He also shared his aspiration to cooperate with VNUA for an intensive mutual relation. Fuji Flavor is willing to promote cooperation in research and development of pheromone trap products with VNUA. Moreover, Fuji Flavor wants to open a commercial market for pheromone traps in Vietnam.


 

After this meeting, VNUA and Fuji Flavor Co. Ltd., will continue to discuss and sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

In the same date, Dr. Rikiya Sasaki and MSc. Riki Nakagawa attended the conference biological control in VNUA. Dr. Rikiya Sasaki had a presentation “IPM and Insect Pheromones for Eco-Friendly Pest Control”. MSc. Riki Nakagawa had a presentation “Introduction of Ecomone Product Lineup”. After presentation, Fuji Flavor has exhibition of pheromone traps for attendees of conference. All attendees were very interested in pheromone traps of Fuji Flavor and they had exciting, excalted discusstion with Fuji Flavor members. They hoped that Fuji Flavor will come back VNUA and do conference and exhibition in near future. Fuji Flavor was a sponsor for conference and provided pheromone traps for Department of Entomology of VNUA to conduct researches in laboratory and on the field.
