According to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, starting a business does not need to start with a big thing but it can be an idea to solve everyday problems.

Sharing at the program "Start-up and Innovation Journey and VNUA Job Day 2022", organized by Vietnam National University of Agriculture on the morning of August 17, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated startup initiatives of the young generation.

Prime Minister shared that starting a business in the agricultural sector should be based on three main factors: capacity training, environment and capital, which are breakthrough stage for startups, contributing to the development of new rural areas". Any initiative for starting a business, although small, is precious, showing the dynamism and creativity of the young generation. "It needs a new perspective on starting a business. The young people need to have ambition to start a business, and a strong will to face failure"

He added that managers and business leaders need material and spiritual supports for students to overcome failure.

In 2021, Vietnam ranks 44/132 countries in the global innovation economy having more than 1,000 global innovation support capacity organizations and 100% supporting training institutions.

However, the Prime Minister stated that many small and medium-sized enterprises still lack human resources for core technology research; the dilemma of good season but low price happen regularly; relative consumption market and limited post-harvest processing.

Therefore, it is necessary to have support from leading universities, practical policies associated with business, scientific research associated with technology to commercialize agricultural products.

Emphasizing that the agricultural sector has a lot of potential and room for young people to start their own businesses, PM suggested that agricultural start-ups must be associated with building new rural areas, attaching specific products to each locality, and diversifying export market, intensive product diversification.

He also expressed the need to connect the community through recruitment bridges. The higher education training organizations need to carry out scientific research based on the reality, listen to the voice of the market in order to identify the appropriate training programs and do better what society needs.

Training and scientific research must be close to practical needs. In order to do that it is necessary to change methods, considering learners as the center. In addition, it is necessary to develop an innovation ecosystem, promote the entrepreneurship spirit of students, help change the enterprising mindset and have great aspirations.

He suggested businesses and the employers must be the place to order training contents in the educational problem, connect and accompany from labor demand forecasting, training orders, and creative incubation support. On the government side, it is necessary to support, incubate startups, build a legal framework, and create an appropriate mobilization mechanism.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, President of Vietnam National University of Agriculture, said that scientific research is the lifeblood of the university, promoting students entrepreneurial spirit and innovation.

Currently, a number of key projects are being implemented by the university in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Planning and Investment to develop key science and technology products for businesses and establish spin-off businesses to bring research from the lab to the market step by step.

At the event, nearly 100 businesses offered 3,000 job opportunities, providing career orientation, and inspiring students to love the agriculture.
