1. GENERAL INTRODUCTION
The Department of Cultivation Science was established in 1956. Since its foundation, the Department has been merged and separated several times with other departments in the Faculty of Agronomy. From 1977 to 2008, the Department of Cultivation Science was a part of the Faculty of Land Management. In June 2008, the Cultivation Science team was separated from the Department of Irrigation - Cultivation to form the Department of Cultivation Science, which is now a part of the Faculty of Agronomy. Since its establishment and development, generations of staff have made great efforts to promote science and technology and train human resources for agriculture and rural development in Vietnam. Currently, the department has 7 members, including 6 lecturers and 1 technician. Most of the lecturers were trained in developed countries such as Germany, Russia, Japan and China.

Research Orientation
The research activities of the Department focus on: Research on cultivation methods to improve crop yield and quality; Research on biology and eco-physiology of weeds, their competition with crops, and methods of weed control; Research on agronomic and physiological traits related to crop resilience under stress conditions, e.g. drought tolerance, salt tolerance; Research on sustainable farming systems, e.g. organic production linked to ecotourism development; organic farming methods
