DEPARTMENT OF FOOD CROP SCIENCES
General introduction
The Department of Food Crop Sciences was formerly a specialized section in the Department of Specialized Cultivation, established in 1956 at the same time as the founding of National Agriculture and Forestry University (the former name of Vietnam National University of Agriculture – VNUA). In 1988, the Department of Food Crop Sciences split from the Department of Specialized Crops. For the last 65 years, generations of lecturers and staffs have contributed a great effort in promoting science, technology, training the human resources for Vietnamese agriculture and enhancing the prestige and position of the Faculty of Agronomy as well as at VNUA.
Our People
Research Direction
Heterosis and its exploitation in rice, maize, and sorghum;
Morphological, physiological, ecological, and plant nutrition characteristics related to yield, quality and abiotic stress resistances (salinity, drought, waterlogging, high temperature…);
Evaluation on the expression and exploitation of traits and genes related to yield, quality and abiotic stress resistances;
Improved cultivation techniques and integrated crop managements to increase added-values in food, forage and biofuel crop productions.
