DEPARTMENT OF HORTICULTURE AND LANDSCAPING
Department of Horticulture and Landscaping is responsible for delivering lectures, research and technology transferring in the horticultural and landscaping sector. For nearly 65 years of development, the department has educated and trained enormous generations of professional staff, officials and students for the horticultural sector in Vietnam. In addition to its strength in horticulture, the department has successfully developed the landscaping profession since 2007, which meets the highly human resource demand of the society. In parallel with the achievements in teaching, the department’s staff has been continuously inventive and conducted studies in their expertise fields, and they have successfully transferred many innovated technologies to the horticultural production. Being inherited the previous achievements, the department’s staff and lecturers have always made their best effort to contribute to and strengthen the horticultural and landscaping sector of Vietnam aiming at a successful globalization.

THE RESEARCH ORIENTATION
- Studying on innovating the intensive production practices for safe and sustainable vegetable and fruit products
- Studying on and applying the technical practices for producing off-season vegetables, flowers and fruits
- Collecting, conserving and exploiting the genetic resources of vegetables, flowers and fruits serving for breeding new varieties and enhancing the product quality
- Studying on agronomic characteristics, genetic diversity and breeding in the genus Allium for foods; and tropical and subtropical bulb flowers as Hippeastrum flowers and daylilies
- Studying on the technical practices for nurseries such as substrates, nutrients, and propagation of vegetables, flowers, fruits and ornamentals.
- Studying on optimizing substrates and nutrients for producing commercial vegetables, flowers, fruits and ornamentals
- Landscaping design and studying on the applications of plants and trees utilized in decorative landscaping
