DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRIAL AND MEDICINAL PLANTS
Introduction
The Department of Industrail and Medicinal Plants was formerly a section in the Department of Specialized Cultivation, established in 1956 along with the founding history of the University of Agriculture and Forestry (the former name of Vietnam National University of Agriculture). Since 1988, it has been officially named the Department of Industrial and Medicinal Plants as current. During 65 years of building and development, generations of lecturers and technical staffs have contributed great efforts in promoting scientific research, technology tranfer and human resource training to enhance the prestigate and position of the Faculty of Agronomy as well as the University.
Department staffs
Research Areas
The main research direction of our department focuses on: Breeding for industrial and medicinal plants adapting to climate changes; Research on cultivation techniques to improve growth and yield of industrial and medicinal plants.
The main research crop groups: annual industrial crops (groundnut, soybean, seasame, sugarcane…); perennial crops (tea, coffee, rubber, pepper, cashew…) and medicinal plants (polyscias fruticosa, panax ginseng…)
