DEPARTMENT OF PLANT PATHOLOGY
The Department studies on areas and offers educational programs involving plant pathology such as diagnosis, epidemiology, plant-microbe interaction and control and manage of plant diseases.
Current research focuses
· Molecular and morphological characterization of plant pathogens.
· Development of acid nucleic and protein – based techniques for diagnosis of plant pathogens.
· Development of topically-applied RNAi-based biopesticides for management of key plant viruses.
· Development of biopesticides using antagonistic microorganisms including Trichoderma, Chaetomium, Bacillus and Streptomyces against soil-borne pathogens, especially Phytophthora, Pythium, Sclerotium, Rhizoctonia and Fusarium.
